P90X: Is it for You?

Everyone wants to get the best results that they can now. That might mean test results, lab results, or (the most popular) exercise results. We’re a country that has been raised to live in the moment, so it’s hard to work out for weeks at a time with nothing to show for it but a little less beer gut. Because of this many people skip as much as they can and go straight for the big guys. There was a huge fad of that revolving around P90X, the workout system. It’s known for being intense, with ripped guys working it out. With that kind of reputation and backup then it must work, right? Yes, and no. It’s not for everyone, but it’s up to you to decide whether it’s right for you.

Are you already in shape? If you are, then you’re on a good path to P90X. If you’re not, then you may want to consider something else. This system was actually built for people who are already in shape. Even they need help staying motivated enough to workout. With that in mind it makes so much more sense as to why everyone looks so strong and can do inhuman amounts of whatever the creator of the video throws at them. You can still do it if you aren’t in their league, just be aware that it’s going to be way harder and you’re going to have to pace yourself more. This is hard work, take your time and do a lighter version if you need to. One day you’ll be buff and then you can try it normally.

Commitment Levels

The 90 in P90X comes from the fact that you have to do this for 90 days. That’s three months of crazy-intense and muscle confusing workouts. If you have the dedication to commit your time to that then more power to you. Most people can’t make it to the gym a few times a week. You have to immerse yourself into this as a lifestyle for it to work, though. There’s even an eating plan with it.

Some people cannot stand to do the same thing over and over again while others need it in their lives. With P90X you work on confusing the muscle groups so you prevent injury and keep things as a whole body workout. This is a pretty good way to keep yourself entertained while you’re working out. Plus the coach on the show is actually pretty funny himself so he does a good job at keeping everything entertaining. If you’ve watched video workouts before you know that they can be fairly monotonous, that’s not the same here.

Work It

This is no walk in the park. Even the yoga sessions are tough. If you’re the type of person who really needs to feel like they’re working to get the experience then this is for you. It does give a good sense of accomplishment, even if you aren’t seeing immediate results.
